Class Master

A website that wants YOU to succeed

Our Idea

Who are we?

We are experienced senior year students who know exactly how to hep struggling university students. With our connections with student societies across campus and with Prep 101 we can get the word out that we are offering a distinct study resource

What are we offering?

We are offering excelling students a chance to help out struggling students with labs and assignments and in the process the excelling students get recognized and earn proficiency from our site which can increase their chances to get hired for jobs

Who are we offering it to?

This website is for students who want to get recognized for their excellence in a course and also for students who need help to excel in their courses.
the website is also a resource employers can tap into to find out exceptional candidates

Why does that person care?

The student sharing their knowledge gets recognized and it adds value to their resume because their good reviews show that they learnt their courses really well which increases their chance to get hired also they get paid for their uploads and content.
the student receiving the knowledge cares because it stimulates their learning process and helps them pass their courses

Our distinctive competencies

websites with class notes exists but what makes us distinct is that we provide class specific assignments and  lab reports. and peer to peer support which helps both parties.

Also it is a platform in which employers can tap into to find excellent candidates

The substitutes & alternatives

Websites such as One Class or StuDocu do exist but they donot provide any valuable benefit for the uploader, nor do they provide course specefic assignments and lab reports.

Our Pitch

The Key Personas and the Value They See

Our first key persona

Jeremy, a struggling student.

He wants help specifically catered for the course he is taking. He tried other online resources and found them to be vague.

Our promise to Jeremy is that the study resources we provide are specifically catered to his needs and will help him excel in his class.

Our second key persona

James, a high achieving student. He is our uploader

He wants to help struggling students in his class but only if he can get something worthwhile out of it.

Our promise to him is that our platform will help him get recognized for his proficiency in the courses and also help him earn some cash.

Our third key persona

Richard. an employer looking for quality candidates.

Through our platform Richard can find out candidates who  excelled their courses and provided help to other students.

Our promise to Richard is that we will provide a reliable resource to shortlist candidates by showing him which students received mastery in their university degrees.

Good work, keep going! Some suggestions:
    – edit your website page for spelling, grammar, punctuation (capitalization is inconsistent)
    – make the title of your venture the title of the website so it stands out more (put Class Master in green)
    – make your offering description more clear (state that you are offering notes etc.)
    – elaborate on who you are above to improve the people and competency score
    – describe how this is different than giving an employer a transcript of official grades received

The basis of this idea is really good, but in my opinion, focusing on more resources such as old midterms/tests/quizzes/labs would provide you with more of a demand from students. Most notes are posted online these days and if a class is missed, they could ask a friend or the professor for the notes. I really don’t think students would pay for notes. Also i think you could allow for advertising on your website and this can fund some of the costs associated with the website and keep your prices competitive with other competing websites. Overall, good idea.

I really like your idea in that it could solve a very real issue and is really cool in the sense that it would help not only the “young struggling student” by providing a better/easier education, but the whole other side of the spectrum in “the experienced student” by providing a better job outlook/resume.

All I can say is that I’m curious in how your team will address the substitute that many students have of just using an older sibling for help or their own friends. In my experiences, there have been many ways to obtain sufficient free help from colleagues without having to resort to websites such as One Class or Chegg.
Excited to see your last pitch as you have a very enthusiastic team and it really adds to your overall presentation.

I like the idea i’m just wondering how different you guys are from oneclass (I’m not sure if you mentioned it in the pitch or not but I can’t open the link). Other than that I like the rest of it.

I think your idea is good, however, I think there are far too many substantial substitutes out there, and In my opinion offering notes on tech-electives isn’t much of a differentiating factor from the other substitutes like OneClass. Also, unfortunately, there is very little you can do to protect anything uploaded on your platform since anyone can take a picture of their computer screen from their phone or from screenshots and spread the knowledge elsewhere.
I think you should just zone in on providing past finals/ midterms/ quizzes, etc and really become experts in that field.

I think they are a lot of alternatives to this idea. A student can approach their TA’s for help who almost always available, ask a friend in class and If they can afford it, they can hire a tutor for an hour.

To stand out from your competitors, you might want to consider introducing targeted ADS and a percentage from that ADS revenue goes to #James.

My ratings are based solely on the information presented on this landing page and because the video link to the pitch is invalid.
It would have been valuable to elaborate on “Who you are?” and why you’re the right people to tackle the opportunity you have identified.
Also, I feel it isn’t completely clear how #James would get value from submitting his notes online and how employers such as #Richard would take that as evidence of a propitious candidate at his company. By providing a few more tangible details, your audience could better understand the value to all your pre-personas.
I was surprised you mentioned in the “substitutes and alternatives” section that they “do not provide any valuable benefit for the uploader, nor do they provide course specific assignments and lab reports”. I did a very brief search on StuDocu and found notes for most of my first year which I could download instantly. However, I did have to upload my own notes to get free access to them. Considering the number of free and convenient alternatives available you might consider explaining how uploaders can use their notes to get employment. If there is an opportunity for students to get employment with your service, there might be serious value for you to add to the document sharing online arena.

Good idea and pitch overall! This will be really useful for people in the first few years of their degree before they get a friend group that can supply missed notes. It will also be great to get the highest quality notes available even when you have friends that can supply. I also really like the addition of the employer as a customer.

I like the idea of peer to peer transaction (instead of subscription) where the note giver gets paid for however many students request their notes. This will help the legality and sharing issues that were seen in this idea.

I would also like to see friends and TA’s as a substitute and alternative because that is what is used most commonly now.

    Very Small Things:
    – Spelling mistake in “Who are we”
    – The video isn’t working for me
    – Maybe put the names of the persona’s in the title

It would be more helpful if there was a more detailed paragraph on people on the team. Experienced students in what?
I like how you linked the fact that the students who share notes can be recognized for their hard work and help them get a job. This would definitely look good on a CV!
You might have mentioned one too many customers (maybe the employers).
For the alternatives and substitutes, it would be helpful to get a small description of the actual service they provide.
Would be helpful to get more background on your distinctive competencies (any other engineering student here could start this business?).

Unfortunately, since your video does not work, it’s hard for the reader to understand the offering.

I really like your idea because I feel it relates to many of the university students very closely. The Pre-Personas are effective in that you have narrowed your target audience down which is a huge plus. The incentives provided to excelling students in return for their sharing of labs and assignment is very enticing! Having said that there is one thing that can potentially be a draw back in long term and that draw back is that students might share or screen shot assignments from your site and distribute it to their friends. I think it would be useful to have some sort of a protection mechanism in case something like that happens. As a fellow student myself, I think your idea is very interesting and has great potential!

I like the idea, as there have been classes where just finding the topic online was nowhere as near useful as having the professors specific notes. I would for sure use this service.

I believe that your platform could really be strengthened by potentially setting up user contracts for your diligent high-rated student up-loaders. This is largely because once another company tries to enter this market/mimic your platform, the first people that their going to go after are the high-rated students on your platform. And seeing as the student owns all the notes/assignments etc. they can freely take them to the other competitor. Food for thought.

I think the integrated assignment and tutoring services are a nice feature as well.

    Good job!
