Our Idea

Who are we?

We are a group of individuals who love to help others and make their day! What better way of making someone’s day by giving them a gift IN a gift that is personalized by YOU. We are students studying at the University of Calgary in multi-disciplines. The arts background brings in creativity and color to our business, the engineering brings in the discipline to stay focused, the accounting background helps with the numbers, and the business background will help us get to market! We are students who have volunteered across the world in countries that are lesser developed, and have first-hand helped those in need. We noticed that it’s the simple things that put a smile on someone’s face. And with Pretty Little Things, we aim to put a smile across the world!

What are we offering?

Who doesn’t love to pack their presents in pretty packages? We allow you to browse from our large collection of gift boxes, and we also allow you to customize your own from scratch! Go ahead and pick the shape, dimensions and color. Add the ribbons, pictures, sequins and anything else! Make your box as pretty as you would like. And the best part, for the lowest prices possible! These boxes are made up entirely of recycled cardboard, that we exclusively use from a facility that maintains the quality of the cardboard. Not only that, but the best part is that for every gift box you purchase, we give a gift to someone in need!

Who are we offering it to?

We are offering this to everyone who loves to buy pretty little things! These personalized gift boxes are aimed at mothers who would buy gifts for their children and for their children’s friends. Not only that, but they are also for couples who would want to browse online and create a personalized gift box for their loved ones on special occasions.

Why does that person care?

Everyone loves to buy presents for their loved ones. You’ve bought a gift for someone, but you don’t know what to put it in, everyone has been there. As the world is becoming more materialistic, the personal touch to a gift is what matters most. When asking most people what part of a gift is their favorite, it’s mostly the card. Why is that? That would be because that’s the most personalized part. Going through the process of picking your own box, coloring it, designing it, that’s what will attract our customers. Other than that, knowing that it will help someone else in need, is an additional plus.

Our distinctive competencies

We are partnered up with ‘One for One’, that is currently located in 36 countries worldwide. For every gift box you purchase, we give a present to a child in need. Not only that, our cardboard is 100% recyclable and so are all the materials used, therefore there is no guilt to that! What adds the cherry on top, is that we offer free- return shipping labels that would return the gift boxes to us to be recycled, and that adds credits to your account. So next time, you’re shopping on our website, your credits will be waiting for you!

The substitutes & alternatives

There is nobody like us out there. There are only other businesses out there, where you can select your gift boxes, but none that allow you to create your own to the very fine details. Not only that, but neither of them are partnered with a charity to gift a gift to someone in need.

The Value

Our first key person

Our first key person is John. He has girlfriend named Sarah, whom he loves very much. He wants to make Sarah happy and wants to buy her something different and memorable. He can buy a card or make a scrapbook, but Sarah doesn’t want a scrapbook on every occasion! He wants to give her something personalized, and what better way than a personalized gift box that she has the joy of opening every time. Our promise to John is to allow him to add his personal touches to the very last details of his gift. Not only that, but we also meet his eco-friendly needs as all our materials are 100% recycled.

Our second key person

Our second key person is Sarah, and she loves getting unique gifts from John. She absolutely loves opening presents and really pays attention to the way John has packed her gift up – he cannot get away with just putting in a bag or wrapping it in gift wrap! She wants something she can keep and remember, and now she has a huge collection of cards. She also wants to know that John put in thought and effort into putting together her gift, because that makes her feel special. She wants something personalized, that nobody else has. She’s tired of having the same pair of shoes that another girl has. Our promise to Sarah is that she will receive a gift that is personalized to the very fine details.

Our third key person

.Our third key person is Alex, who is currently living in a small remote village in Ecuador. He loves football, but he’s not fortunate enough to own one himself. Therefore he kicks around a cardboard box that he has tried his best to turn into a spherical ball. Christmas is coming up, and he wishes he could have asked Santa to gift him a football, just this one time. We promise Alex, to make his wish come true the following Christmas with a brand new football!

  1. I’m not sure how often I would use this, as I’m more of a person who would buy things that are more convenient for me. However, I think it’s a great idea for people who would like to make personalized gifts for others.

  2. I think this is a great idea! I love giving my family gifts, and I think the personalized touch is a great element. I myself love getting cards and that’s my favourite part.

  3. I’m very concerned about people using plastic bags and other materials that aren’t recycable for packing gifts. So knowing that all the materials are recyclable, is a great feeling. Not only that, but actually going through the process of creating your own gift box, is creating a gift of its own, which I love.
