Hello and welcome to my page! My name is Javairia Kamran and I am the creator of FlossBrush.
I am a consumer of dental hygiene products and have seen the divide between what is being offered and what the consumer need really is.
My field of expertise is in chemical engineering, and I have taken a course called Engineering Entrepreneurship that provides me with the tools necessary to have this innovation in the market and benefiting you as a highly impactful and feasible idea!
A device combining a toothbrush with a floss pick to make the task of flossing easier and more accessible for those who avoid it. The toothbrush itself has a compostable cardboard body lined with plastic to ensure longevity and water-resistance, while the head of the toothbrush and floss pick may be removed and exchanged for ease of recycling and travel-friendly purposes. The goal behind this is to make flossing easier and more accessible for the everyday person. Most people tend to avoid flossing or just forget about it, because it can be quite a tedious process. Having a floss pick attached makes the task of flossing nearly impossible to avoid!
This product will be offered to John– a consumer of the dental hygiene industry who lives a busy life, and:
Also offered to Jill (John’s dentist)’s clinic, so that her patients can benefit from new technology, making her life easier as she no longer has to remind her patients to floss so frequently!
Jill has patients who have braces as well as younger children, for whom flossing is absolutely crucial to the overall health of their teeth. These children are often very eager to take care of their teeth as the task can be disguised as “play time” for them, however, they find it challenging to work with a string and work through each tooth. Additionally, their parents are in a rush to get them into bed and do not have the patience to floss their teeth correctly for them. The flossbrush will be so easy to use that adults with braces, and children (who may also have braces) will begin to love the experience of flossing again!
These people: John, braces wearers, and children, spend an unholy amount of money on toothbrushes and floss separately expecting to get at least an equal use out of both, but never actually end up using the floss that they purchased, so they just end up wasting their money. Once they catch onto their cycle of spending and not actually using their products, they begin to think that it is just a waste, and end up compromising the overall health of their teeth to save money on floss. This leads to more serious problems down the line that are more difficult to correct with the passing of time.
I am not a huge multi-billion dollar company invested in making money! I care about you, the consumer, and will tailor my product so that it aligns with what your need is, while keeping the overall cost at a value that fits with the competitive pricing of the market.
FlossBrush will be sold in large batches to dental offices in Calgary so that it is more easily distributed, and the word for it spreads faster through the connections built.

My product, FlossBrush, is a device that will combine the best of all three and provides ease of use to encourage the act of flossing amongst its users.
A dentist deals with patients every day who do not floss their teeth and have cavities, etc, so they always have to be referred to a hygienist for thorough cleaning. Most of their patients don’t floss even after given the instruction to, so would appreciate a simple and efficient way to improve client’s quality of life.

The FlossBrush will make their job easier and more efficient, since the cleanings will not have to be as intense, and they will be able to fit more patients into one time slot than before resulting in greater overall value for dental clinics.
I will be reaching out to this key person directly initially, and then spread the message through advertisements, word of mouth from esteemed sources, their connections, etc.
The dentist that I reached out to, Dr. Arden Young, along with her team at Kherani Dental were all super excited about FlossBrush and agreed that there would be a significant demand for this product.To move this product forward and better it, I will be working closely with Dr. Arden Young and her connections to bring the prototype into Kherani Dental.
Simultaneously, I will also begin the development of the FlossBrush and have a proper functioning prototype that will have the key functionalities of the product available to use. I will be testing my product at Kherani to see what the initial feedback is, and use that to further improve on the idea.
Once it has been successfully implemented at Kherani Dental, I will be approaching Dr. Young’s other connections and offices, along with other dental locations in Calgary with my idea and success story.
The working adult and a busy university student see the value of flossing, but just do not have the time for this task or just simply forget to do it.
It can be very inconvenient to carry a separate toothbrush, floss, etc., especially when travelling, which can be quite often for some. With FlossBrush, these individuals will be less likely to forget or blow the task off since it is attached directly to the toothbrush, so they can still floss even if they are in a rush. This product is designed to be a compact, travel-friendly, and convenient way of taking care of their teeth
I will be getting in touch with my peers and social circle, along with initial circle of family, then ask them to spread it out this way initially; social media will be very important for this too. I am confident that I will be able to reach this group and convince them of the worth of FlossBrush.
When I spoke with my relatives along with other adults close to me, they saw the value in my idea along with what I was hoping to achieve.
Children learning to take care of their teeth are my third key person. They love bright colours and want ease of use in everything that they do.
“As someone with braces, much more convenient to get everything in one go. Lessens the time that you spent taking care of my teeth as well.” – my 12 year old sister when I asked her this question.
I am sure that this quote from my sister actually also applies to most children within this age range.
FlossBrush will be a cute and trendy, aesthetically appealing toothbrush and floss to make these children gravitate towards taking care of their teeth while they are still young. They will be drawn to this product through exposure from their designated dental locations initially. Once the product is in the market, they will see it on the shelves alongside its competitors, but will choose this for the design simplicity and appeal. Using my sister’s feedback to have flavoured floss in the pick will also be a great appeal factor for children.
I will be requesting that my sister reach out to her friends circle. Additionally, my mom works for an elementary school under the CBE, so she has a wide range of contacts; along with family friends.
