Convenient Travel

Our Idea

Who are we?

My name is Firas Naamani and I am a civil engineer who loves to travel and explore the world. I have travelled a lot around the world and have been to many congested airports with not enough room. I have experienced many inconvenient instances at airports during long layovers and have constantly tried to make traveling easier for myself. Using my experience of building various furniture pieces I believe I can solve a major problem at airports.

What are we offering?

I am offering a light and portable cardboard chair which is foldable and easily stored into a backpack or carry on of a traveler. It is comprised of five easy to assemble pieces with slits in them that fit into each other to create a chair. The seat component as well as the back rest is padded with a cushion for comfort. The backrest is adjustable to the users needs.

Who are we offering it to?

I am offering this to traveling individuals who have long layovers from long distance flights at busy airports and can’t find seating. More specifically people with injuries who cannot stand for extensive periods of time. It is also offered to the airports themselves, airlines, retail travel stores, and gift shops in airports.

Why does that person care?

Long distance traveling can be very exhausting and airports are often so busy that there is no seating for many travellers who may need to sit on the floor uncomfortably. This product will provide a more comfortable waiting period. Airports can utilize these chairs and give them to travellers instead of spending money and resources in allocating room and adding seating, possibly resulting in more construction. This saves on cost and enhances image. This would be a much cheaper and simpler alternative. Airlines can offer this on planes as part of a travel kit, enhancing their image and possibly collecting a fee from the airports for helping.

Our distinctive competencies

I have a personal contact of a WestJet pilot and believe I can leverage my relationship to meet with WestJet management to promote my product. This product is also a significant cost saving for airports as they do not need to add more seating or worry about expansion construction. People traveling with injuries such as knee or back pain do not need to stress while traveling as they can reuse their portable chair at any airport. Very light,  easy to use, and compact. I also aim to patent the design of this product. There is also the potential of advertisement and putting company logos on the sides of the chair.

The Value

Our first key person

My first key person is connecting travellers. Traveling can be quite uncomfortable as there is a lot of standing in lines  and waiting for your flight. There is not always available seating and you may have. They do not want to stand for hours or sit uncomfortably on the floor especially when they have pre existing injuries.

Our second key person

My second key person is owners of travel retail stores at airports. They want products that will sell successfully at a high rate and to turn a profit. This product is a convenient solution to a problem many travellers face. The product is going to attract the attention of travellers as they are browsing through shops in the airport.

Our third key person

My third key person is management personnel at airports. Many airports around the world are over crowded and do not have enough seating for travellers. Plans for expansion can be significantly postponed and adding seating to accommodate busy days is not required. This allows them to save money as well as have greater flexibility with any expansion plans with their timelines

I personally know that I would definitely invest in a product like this. Having experienced the situation that Firas describes many times. I think this would be a very interesting product.
