Hello, I’m David Lewis and I’m delighted to share my plan to leverage over three decades of diverse experience in the health care economics arena to address pervasively rising health care costs.  Having served for the last 15 years as a market-facing CEO overseeing commercial health plan operations for a Fortune 10 enterprise in four states; which followed 12 years as co-founder and CEO of four local-based physician controlled entities each with a mission to proactively address this problem, I know how we buy care in this country and, most importantly, I know who can most effectively manage the cost and quality of what we buy.

Most people are aware that in the US we spend vastly more per capita ** than other modern countries on health care services AND that by and large our health outcomes in terms of such metrics as mortality and morbidity levels, obesity rates and even preventive care compliance rankings are marginally less impressive ** than our international peers.  So, we spend more to get less.  Why is that?  I share the views of many ** who attribute this pervasive problem to the underlying provider reimbursement structure which rewards volume vs. quality, thus failing to align with the health and wellbeing needs of our society.

What are we offering?

My company is named DirectCare Solutions.  I have secured conditional trademark protection of the mark, logo and tagline “Insuring the Patient Physician Partnership.”  Through this company, my team shall provide support services to providers wishing to be a part of the solution, rather than the problem.

 

 

 

Of the four private companies mentioned earlier, the largest and by far most potentially impactful to society (as well as the medical community) was named DirectCare, Inc..  DirectCare was a licensed health plan built around organized groups of otherwise independently practicing primary care physicians.  It was modeled to reward both provider efficiency and quality instead of volume.  I have reestablished DirectCare as a Florida entity named DirectCare Solutions, LLC.  The original logo and tagline “Insuring the Patient Physician Partnership” intellectual property rights have been restored through filings with the US Trademark and Patent Office ***.  Through this company, I shall seek to support the local business strategies of solution-seeking primary care physician groups, because properly organized and motivated, THEY ARE THE SOLUTION our country deserves.

 

Who are we offering it to?

Our target customers are aggregations of independent primary care physicians anywhere in the US who wish to be solution seekers in their communities.

I’ve done this before and know it works.  Prior to my most recent tenure with UHC, I co-founded four related physician-controlled entities, the mission of which was to change the local economics to favor the health and wellbeing needs of society.  I’m gonna do this again, and thanks in large part to the tools created by the Straight Up Business Institute, this time I’m gonna get it right!  Thank you….any questions?
